- How do you build a home?
- Where do the materials come from?
- How long does it take to
build a house?
- How much does it cost?
These are some of the questions children frequently ask us.
We answer all of them and more during the “Homes of Our
Own” presentation, which is a fun-filled educational
program that explains the homebuilding process in easy terms,
designed for 1st to 3rd graders. The program stresses the need
for reading, writing, math, and science skills in a homebuilding
career as well as the importance of recycling materials. The
Alachua County School Board has approved both our elementary
and middle school programs. If you are a teacher and would
like a presentation in your class, please contact us.
There is also a new program for students in higher grades
as well. Educators, please visit www.HomesOfOurOwn.org to find
out more about this exciting software that allows kids to choose
a site for their virtual home, build it with materials and
a design of their choice, and then 'market' it to potential
buyers. If you're interested in having this software for your
own class, please contact us.
